It’s Science, Not Magic

Home / how it works

Brighter Minds is a sophisticated system of tools and techniques, grounded in cutting-edge neuroscience, designed to enhance children’s cognitive abilities within a nurturing environment. While the resulting intellectual, emotional, and social transformation in each child may appear remarkable, our program’s core is firmly rooted in evidence-based science.

Core Concepts: Neuroplasticity & EntERTAinment

The brain is highly malleable, especially in children. As they grow, continuous exposure to external stimuli shapes their cognitive functioning. Neuroscience research demonstrates that exercising different parts of the brain can enhance multiple aspects of cognitive function, much like physical exercise for the body.

Learning results from connections and reconnections among the 80 billion neurons in each human brain. These neurons communicate through brainwaves or synchronized electrical activity. Brainwave frequencies tend to align with external stimuli, a phenomenon utilized in 'brainwave entrainment' to adjust brainwave frequencies to desired external stimuli. Specific interventions like music, relaxation-meditation, and brain exercises are associated with neuroplasticity changes in specific brain regions. 'Sensory substitution' or augmentation, observed in blind individuals, demonstrates compensation for vision loss through alternate or enhanced sensory pathways. This proves that brain wiring results from repeated external actions. The principle 'neurons that fire together, wire together' indicates that specific stimuli can induce new neural connections between activated brain parts. Additionally, physical exercise releases endorphins, produces antioxidants protecting brain cells, and can stimulate neurogenesis—the brain's ability to regenerate neurons.

Every Brighter Minds program is founded on the concepts of neuroplasticity and entrainment. Appropriate tools and interventions in a conducive environment can stimulate neuroplasticity in developing and mature brains, enhancing lifelong learning capacity.
